St. Louis, MO – Saint Louis FC can confirm that forward Irvin Herrera has been selected by his country to represent the El Salvador National Team in their September CONCACAF World Cup 2018 Qualifiers vs. Mexico (9/2) and @ Canada (9/6). As a result, Herrera will not be available for selection for Saint Louis FC's USL matches vs. Oklahoma City Energy (8/31) and @ FC Cincinnati (9/5).
"We're very excited for this opportunity that Irvin has earned. When we signed him we told him that playing in the USL would give him every opportunity to continue and represent the El Salvador National Team", said STLFC general manager Jeremy Alumbaugh.
"It's a testament to the quality of the league and quality of his teammates. While we will miss him while he is gone, this is something that happens all over the world when players get called in, and we wish him the best of luck."
Herrera has represented his country previously, recording 10 caps to this point and scoring 1 goal vs. Saint Kitts and Nevis on June 11, 2015.
