STLFC Earns Victory and Clean Sheet Over Toronto FC II

St. Louis, MO – Saint Louis FC won 2-0 over Toronto FC II in front of 4,477 people at Toyota Stadium on Saturday in Week 11 of the USL season.

Saint Louis FC opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with AJ Cochran heading the home side into an early lead.  They would double their advantage shortly after halftime with Volesky lifting the ball over the keeper in the 49th minute to seal the three points.

The first half started with an early Toronto FC II chance in the 11th minute as Aikim Andrews was left clear in the box but headed his shot straight at Devala Gorrick who made the save.  Saint Louis FC then continued their streak of scoring early at home in the 23rd minute when Emir Alihodzic floated his corner kick to AJ Cochran at the back post who headed home his first goal of the USL season to take the lead.  STLFC almost doubled their lead shortly afterwards in the 26th minute as Sebastian Dalgaard was found behind the defense, but his first time shot went just wide.  The last chance of the first half fell to the home side in the 33rd minute as former STLFC goalkeeper Mark Pais came out of his box to smother a through ball intended for the onrushing Christian Volesky.

The second half started with Saint Louis FC looking to double the advantage and they quickly did in the 49th minute.  Jose Angulo played through Volesky and he deftly chipped Pais for his fourth goal of the season.  In the 53rd minute, Toronto almost found a way back into the game with a shot that was cleared off the line by STLFC defender Aedan Stanley.  The game would finish 2-0 and earned Saint Louis FC their first clean sheet at home since July 2016.
